D.C. Welcomes Tennessee: Mandarin Oriental Appoints Spa Director

Sherrie Tennessee has joined The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C., as spa director.

Tennessee’s previous roles include group education manager at Sandals Resorts International, Red Lane Spas, where she oversaw the launch of the Red Lane Institute, a program designed to provide U.S.-based training to Caribbean resort spa therapists. She also served as a professor at Johnson & Wales University in North Miami, Florida, where she assisted in the development of the school’s spa management curriculum. She frequently contributes to industry publications, writing on the science and teaching of spa practices.

In her new role, Tennessee will be tasked with overseeing the operations and programming of the spa and wellness center. Features of the 10,000 sq. ft. facility center include eight treatment rooms; a dedicated beauty suite; heat and water facilities including vitality pools, experience showers, a steam room and sauna; Zen relaxation rooms; lounges; and a spa boutique.

Tennessee is a valued adviser for Skin Inc., and she was added onto the advisory board in July of 2018.
