From beauty magazines to the catwalks, a full, natural brow continues to trend in 2017. And with this trend, women with thinning or patchy eyebrows are looking for a more permanent solution.

"We have seen an increase in consultation requests for eyebrow restorations and expect to see the number of restorations increase in 2017." —Edwin A. Suddleson, M.D., Bosley Assistant Medical Director.

According to a 2015 report from The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, eyebrow hair restoration has grown 57.2% from 2012 to 2014 and shows strong signs of growth in the future.

"We have seen an increase in consultation requests for eyebrow restorations and expect to see the number of restorations increase in 2017," said Edwin A. Suddleson, M.D., Bosley Assistant Medical Director.

Eyebrow restoration surgery is used to fill in gaps or thinning areas of the eyebrow. During the procedure, a surgeon takes brow-like follicles from the head and transplants them into the thinning or patchy area of the brow. The procedure lasts only a couple hours and results are generally seen in a month or two.

Having a restoration done by an experienced professional is crucial to a successful restoration, as eyebrow hair is different than any other type of hair on the body, and facial type and ethnicity both affect the thickness and arch of the brow.
