At the 7th Annual Summit in Aesthetic Medicine Meeting held May 5 – 6, 2017, researchers with Alastin Skincare presented three significant findings. Alastin Skincare is a specialty esthetics company dedicated to developing and marketing clinically-tested, physician-dispensed skin care products with proprietary TriHex Technology.

“As part of our commitment to generate scientific data related to our Alastin Skincare products and technology, we have been working closely with leading esthetic physicians to generate clinical and non-clinical data supporting both our Procedure Enhancement line as well as our Restore & Renew daily skin care line,” said Alan Widgerow, M.D., chief medical officer for Alastin.

TriHex Technology Really Works

The first finding concluded that Alastin’s TriHex Technology provides significant benefits for mature adults seeking anti-aging solutions. While the study was limited to six patients, researchers found that the actives in Alastin’s skin care line, including tripeptide, hexapeptide and other synergistic actives, progressively break down the clumped collagen/gelatin elastin bundles and stimulate replacement with new collagen and elastin—effectively recycling the extra cellular matrix.

“Levels of elastin and collagen begin to diminish as we age, making our skin appear older,” said president and CEO of Alastin, Diane Goostree. “With TriHex Technology, we’ve gone beyond traditional anti-aging regimens to create products that help to reawaken the skin’s natural ability to rejuvenate itself, leading to a more youthful appearance and healthier skin while enhancing skin elasticity and volume.”

Improved Outcomes After Laser Resurfacing Procedures

Two separate, investigator-blinded studies were done to determine the efficacy of Alastin’s Procedure Enhancement System of skin care products after modern fractional CO2 laser resurfacing. In both studies, researchers concluded that use of the Procedure Enhancement System before and after the procedure resulted in statistically superior outcomes than those using other creams and ointments.

“The use of Alastin's tripeptide/hexapeptide-containing Procedure Enhancement System proved effective and well-tolerated after laser resurfacing in a prospective study we conducted at our practice,” said Sabrina Fabi, M.D. “Subject satisfaction was greater on the Alastin system, which resulted in better patient experience following laser resurfacing.”

The Procedure Enhancement System consists of Alastin’s Gentle Cleanser, Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology, Ultra Nourishing Moisturizer with TriHex Technology, Soothe + Protect Recovery Balm and Broad Spectrum 30+ Sunscreen.

In both cases, patients showed increased healing and reduced reddening and exudation post-procedure. Additionally, patients from both studies said they would continue using the regimen and would recommend the regimen to others.

While these results are encouraging, researchers said a double-blinded randomization would be required to confirm the results.
