What body treatments do you provide as alternatives to cosmetic surgery?

This month's Vocal Point Survey winner!I have found that LED, microdermabrasion, ultrasound and endermology, all work well on the body to lessen cellulite and stretch marks, promote blood flow, aid in lymphatic drainage, and stimulate collagen synthesis resulting in firmer, smoother, healthier skin. Depending on the client's budget, I choose the right combination of modalities, as well as topical serums or lotions to fit their needs.

Also, our Ultimate Facial is totally noninvasive with visible after one treatment. We first use facial vacuum then microdermabrasion with all of the cleansers, toners, masks, moisturisers, and we finish off with blue light and/or red light therapy application. This wrap detox's the body starting with an enzymatic exfoliation, massage and wrap working to stimulate acupressure points to flush waste and toxins from the body. It is a great quick fix for those stubborn last few pounds.

I have recently added a new service to my menu and it has been the new craze in our salon. They desire plastic surgery, but after trying this noninvasive facial, they pre-book immediately.

I like using first level and second level AHA peels combined with microdermabrasion. Home care is important, so I encourage nightly skin lighteners plus a 12% glycolic three times a week. Home masks are usually ignored, but a home enzyme mask once a week can work wonders on dull, tired skin. As for the body, salt scrubs are great, but again, an AHA body wash combined with a AHA body lotion will show amazing results in as little as one week if regularly used at home.

We have our clients use a plant-derived glycolic acid every night to help break up the gluelike substance naturally found in skin that stubbornly holds on to dead skin cells. Every morning, clients need to use a cleanser that contains microderm crystals to sloughs all of the dead skin cells, which have been released by the glycolic acid overnight. The end result is beautiful, youthful skin. We have found that these two products treat and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Many of our clients have seen such great results, they feel that they no longer need medical treatment.

Galvanic body treatments are used to breakdown the toxins trapped in fat by stimulating the lymph system. It smooths out the dimpled appearance and texture of the skin and is great for legs and thighs, as well as replacing the very invasive and expensive post-pregnancy tummy tucks. It firms and tightens, smoothes and detoxifies.

I offer body wraps for clients that want to lose inches and detoxify. They can be wrapped for 45 minutes, or they can be wrapped all day. I also offer mud wraps that helps detoxify the body. And I also provide a hot and cold wrap that helps with inch loss. I would rather have them do the wraps than have to go through cosmetic surgery to take care of the excess fat that they may have. My clients must do their part also and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I love making people feel good about themselves the noninvasive way.
- Colleen Scott, Owner, Serenity Salon & Spa, East Dundee, IL
We use two systems that feature vacuum therapy in addition to fat reducing ... the SmoothSculpt and the Prestige LDT. They both use noninvasive methods to break up old and new stored fat, but where they are different is that their focus on the lymph to remove the fat so it does not deposit someplace else. When using noninvasive methods, this is an essential component. It is also great for improving cellular metabolism for weight loss, moving stagnation and overall improved health.

I worked at a day spa that offered various wraps including a cellulite wrap. My favorite treatments for boosting my body image was a massage, salt scub and cellulite wrap trio. My skin was smoother, softer, the cellulite was less noticeable and it got rid of inches in water weight. Not to mention the sheer bliss of relaxation. Perfect treatment for a night worthy of the little black dress.

I work in a plastic surgeons office and thus far we have seen the best non-invasive results with radiofrequency-based treatments, such as Endymed. Endymed, otherwise known as 3deep, causes internal swelling to the area you are treating. This, in turn, causes the cell regeneration process to speed up and begin producing collagen at a slightly more rapid pace. This is a wonderful noninvasive treatment. It has no side effects, no bruising or swelling, and you can leave the office moments after your treatment with little to no redness. A vast majority of patients find the treatment relaxing and usually see and feel gradual results. Endymed lifts and contours your body. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to smooth out their problem areas, reduce sagging (especially above the knees).
