What spring treatments are you offering in your spa?

This month's Vocal Point Survey winner!I'm an esthetician. The last few years, with the slowing economy, every January I ring in the new year with big specials! I drop my prices for all popular services and anything over $50 by at least 40% or more for the first few months. People want to get a fresh start on their skin, but they're also starting gym memberships for their body and other New Year's resolutions. I make my services very affordable so they can't resist and it fits their budget! Plus, I add an extra perk, and if they purchase five treatments at the special price, they get one free! This gives clients six treatments to see how great their skin can become, so they become a long-lasting client.

I am a skin care specialist in Lake City, FL. All the locals prefer tanning beds rather than a body bronzing product Being in northern Florida does afford us with slightly cooler weather and warmer days with highs in the upper 80s on some days in the winter months. So to offer a sun-safe product is a refreshing relief to clients that need hydration and revitalizing due to the harsh rays or sunbed damage. Also, since most of the local clients have underground water with no filtration system, I also offer body polishing as an exfoliating and nurturing treatment for dull skin. Spring is an exciting time for my clients at the full-service salon.

Also, we will be offering a full-body exfoliation with hydrating treatment to help people rid themselves of the winter itch. We try and really give the spring a great kick off by focusing on saying bye to the winter blues and looking your best again.
- Rachael Cerullo, Owner, Pozitively Young Salon & Spa, Tyngsboro, MA
Spring is such a great time to really get into skin care! Flowers are blooming, baby birds singing, and we are all emerging from our winter clothes. This spring, I'm going to offer many gentle types of exfoliation, and hydration. After the winter months, many clients come in addressing concerns about their dry skin. As a skin care expert, I know that removing the dead skin build up, is essential is infusing moisture back into the skin. I will be offering packages of microderms and hydrating peels. And a special treatment called Emerge. The Emerge Treatment is based on how a beautiful butterfly emerges from the coocon. This treatment starts with a custom cleanse, a pore relaxing steam, an enzyme treatment, followed by a light pass with the microderm machine, finishing with an infusion of hyaluronic acid and topped off with a vitamin C mask. While the mask is on, I dry brush the arms, hands, legs and follow with a lactic acid hydrating body cream. They will emerge with dewy, glowing skin!

I'm excited about our new spring treatment: Scalp Facials! We just ordered a kit of various hair oils and essential oils from Universal Company, and I have a great sense of the success this treatment will offer us, as well as the wonderful benefits for our clients. Being in the midwest, winter is hard on the hair and dry itchy scalp is a common complaint. Our Scalp Facial can be a stand alone or add on to a facial or massage treatment, adding income to both the esthetician and massage therapist . Just imagine the relaxed, satisfied client after having her scalp exfoliated with a pre-shampoo, followed by a body cocooned on a warm, luxurious bed where their scalp is then massaged with the perfect oil and blend of essential oils to specifically address whatever issue their having. Nothing is more relaxing to the entire body than acupressure, ayurvedic movements on the scalp, neck and shoulders, and restful nature sounds. Not only will we take care of the clients specific scalp issues, but we will also be able to take them to another level of stress relief and relaxation. The Scalp Facial will open the door for a Body Facial, a real need for our dry winter weather. A body scrub followed by a relaxing soak in our tub filled with essential oils from one of our adorable bath bombs for hydration and relaxation. We'll complete the experience with a mud or paraffin wrap finished off with a slathering of body butter to complete the relaxation of winter stressed muscles and skin. We'll offer these treatments as a package ( oh yeah baby!) or individual treatments (single bloom). A cup of our flowering tea with a lavender scone, a spring flower to remember the day by and a recommendation for the next treatment or how they can earn spa dollars by sending in their friends. We'll start training and talking to get our clients excited about these new treatments right after the holidays! I really can"t wait for spring!

Spring is about new beginnings. Our spring specials will have a lot to do with essential oil of spring flowers like lilac, lavender and rose. We will offer foot treatments that will include a warm soak in lilac or lavender oils followed by a scrub and "clean up" of calluses that accumulate after a long, cold winter. The foot scrub will include a hot stone massage and pedicure featuring the new spring nail colors. Our spring facials will include an exfoliating gentle enzyme peel, followed by a vitamin penetration ultrasound treatment. The second facial choice is an aromatherapy massage of the head, neck, face, shoulders, hands and feet ending with a botanical hydrating mask. New beginnings deserve a celebration. We will have a "Thank Goodness Spring Is Here" party. The decorations will be a large variety of spring flowers and we will be serving spring associated refreshments like iced mint tea, sangria and light appetizers. As our gift, each client will receive a few packages of various flower seeds to take home and also we will raffle off one of our spring treatments. In closing, I want to thank you for making me think about spring! Here in New England, winter has just arrived! I enjoyed taking a mini vacation just thinking about the flowers I will be purchasing!
