What special treatments and programs does your skin care facility offer to appeal to male clients?

This month's Vocal Point Survey winner!Simplicity is key with male clients. Neutral decor and privacy is also important for the male client. Treatments that are geared toward relaxation as well as deep cleansing work well. Most men, especially in the 30s and 40s range, appreciate extra attention to the eye area. Depuffing and toning with pressure point massage in the eye area is always welcomed, and describing this treatment in your gentlemen facial will definitely catch the male clients attention!
- Roni Parish, Owner/Esthetician, The Skin Studio, Loomis, CA

Male clients will like to come for laser hair removal, massage and acne treatments. Some male clients like us to refer them for tattoo removal. Our spa has a doctor that will come two times a week to do treatments. This way our clients benefit, and the spa gets a fee for the lease of the room when is necessary.

Our male clients love our spa and facial treatments!

Anti-aging and hyperpigmentation peels. Even though most men shave every day, these peels help even out skin tone and tighten crow's-feet and/or forehead wrinkles.
- Monica Morrison, Owner/Esthetician, SpaTacular Skin, Middleton, WI
My clients have a high amount of disposable income. I have male clients that come in for massages, but I don't have any that come in for skin exfoliating or anything else. They will sometimes participate with a hydrotherapy treatment. What can I do to change this? I do I market skin care to men. When I bring up the subject of something as basic as exfoliating the dead skin off of their heels, they take offense. They tend to believe that skin care treatment of any sort is specifically designed for women.
- Denise Taylor, Integrated Healthcare Director, Coastal Integrated Health & Wellness, St. Simons Island, GA

- Tatiana Molano, Owner/Therapist, Pure Skin Body Treatments, Bay Point, CA
In my skin care facility, I offer a variety of treatments for all male skin types and conditions, including microdermabrasion, chemical and enzymes treatments for problematic skin, smoker's skin, sun-damaged skin and also aging skin. I always apply sun protection before my clients leave the facility. I want to create a friendly relationship with my clients. I have passion for my profession and always give my clients the best treatments of my ability. I do extra steps if necessary and with no extra charge. For example, I would add an enzyme after microdermabrasion if I think that it's needed to improve a client's skin condition. It's important that you, as an esthetician, build trust with your clients. If they feel good after the treatments at your facility, they will refer their friends. Word of mouth referrals are very effectively important.
- Zee Dao, Owner/Esthetician, Aesthetics By Zee, San Jose, CA
Thanks to Calvin Klein's billboard ads of the 80s and 90s where the bare chests of men were hairless, this is still a preferred look for young ladies.Statements we've heard are that they don't want their boyfriend (or husband) looking like their father. Hair removal for the back and chest for men's summer look can in itself be anti-aging. A hairless, buffed chest seems a highlight. "A Sweet Chest for Men" is appropriate for us since we use the sugar method for removing hair. Our wax pot was retired in 1991.
- Brenda Romanow, Owner/Esthetician, Desired Image Skin Care Clinic, Buffalo, NY

Microdermabrasion. It helps with shaving and help with breakouts. The men love how their skin feels afterward. They can't believe their skin could feel so smooth.
- Michelle Duncan, Esthetician , Class Act Salon & Day Spa, Anderson, IN
We do not call male services treatments. For our tougher men, We name them " deep pore exfoliation" and "deep cleanse with scrub". Our softer male clients we use "facial and peels" and provide that service.
- Ana Maria Robles, Esthetician, Bella Medical Skin Care, Hayward, CA
