Skin Inc. LIVE! premiered at Face & Body Midwest in Rosemont, Illinois. With a wide range of topics, the stage became a place to educate skin care professionals in everything from detecting melanoma, learning about microchanneling, understanding preservatives, making your own social media beauty trend and much more. Here are just some of the highlights from the stage on Day 1 of the event.

Detecting Melanoma

Skin Inc. LIVE! started with “The ABCDEs of Melanoma” presented by Meghan Rothschild, an informative 30-minute session on easily detecting melanoma. During her presentation, Meghan Rothschild presented five signs to spot for potential melanoma concerns:

  • Asymmetry
  • Border Irregularity
  • Color Variation
  • Diameter > 6mm
  • Evolution

Microchannel: The Alternate Microneedle?

Among the most interesting treatments on the Skin Inc. LIVE! stage was a microchanneling treatment demonstration. This treatment shows potential as a popular non-invasise treatment. What makes microchanneling different from microneedling is that it only goes down to the epidermis to induce collagen production, where microneedling goes further down to dermis.

Preservatives in Products

“What's Preserving Your Product,” presented by Melissa Tolla, was an in-depth presentation on what preservatives are in products. She explained that everything including the formulation, preservatives used, packaging and how client's are use the product ultimately lead to a better product.

Trending in Social Media

The “Beauty Trends in Social Media” presentation provided an easy-to-use guide in utilizing beauty trends on your social media platforms. When creating your own beauty trend, you should:

  • Be a content creator
  • Don't be afraid to show your personality
  • Use compelling visuals
  • Watch trends diligantly
  • Reach out to influencers

These were just a few of the presentation from the Skin Inc. LIVE! stage. The presentations will continue Monday, Jan. 23, at 10:15 AM at Face & Body Midwest
