Pinterest can be an endless well of inspiration no matter what the topic. Who hasn’t visited the social media site for “just a few minutes” only to emerge hours later armed with too many ideas to process in a single day? Well, the fine folks at the world's catalog of ideas have revealed their predictions for the top five beauty trends of 2017.

Chrome Nails

This beauty trend gained momentum after Gigi Hadid sported a stunning $2,000 chrome manicure to the Met Gala in May 2016. Luckily, silver nails can now be obtained at home from brands like Nars and Sally Hansen.

Microblading

Microblading is the process of applying semi-permanent pigment under the skin of the eyebrow to create shape and definition. The effect creates fuller, defined, more natural-looking brows than tattooing or makeup can achieve.

Cut Crease Makeup

The cut crease is a makeup technique in which eye shadow or liner is applied to the crease of the eye and blended outward to create definition. There are endless makeup tutorials for this technique online and Pinterest predicts the trend will only increase in 2017.

Charcoal Masks

Activated charcoal is excellent at absorbing impurities, which is why so many household filters are made from the substance. It’s no wonder then that the trend has since parlayed into the beauty industry. Everything from soap to sponges are available in charcoal form, but by far the most prevalent—and one of Pinterest's top trendsetters—is the charcoal mask.

Ash Balayage Hair Color

Balayage is a hair highlighting technique that creates a natural ombre effect. The dark-to-light results of this blonde coloring method will undoubtedly gain popularity in 2017, as there are already thousands of pins of this particular color technique.
