Kicking off Face & Body Northern California spa expo and conference will be the Advanced Education Conference on Saturday, August 26. Presentations will include four tracks: body, business, master esthetics and science. Each track will also include one three-hour, hands-on workshop.

Here are a few of the presenters you will see at the Advanced Education Conference:

Salty Swap: Himalayan Salt Stone Massage (10:15 a.m.—11:15a.m.) by Ann Brown

As part of the body track, learn everything you need to master Himalayan salt stones. According to Ann Brown, CEO of Saltability, “Himalayan salt stone massage is an entirely new therapeutic modality that draws its healing therapy from mineral-rich, pure salt crystals formed approximately 250 million years ago.” Attendees will learn everything from set-up to clean-up during this presentation.

The Art of ManHandling (11:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m.) by Stacey Grondahl

In the business track, Grondahl will be presenting on ways for spa owners and estheticians to tap into the male market. Grondahl explains, “Women are a completely different ball game than men, in general. This is a very new industry, and it needs to be approached, and handled, very differently, in order to win over the male genre.” She will be exploring the workings of the male mind to show how you can begin to enter the market.

Turning Onto Light Based Energy Theory (11:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m.) by Mary Nielsen

Mary Nielsen will be presenting in the master esthetics track on light therapy and how it has been used for healing for thousands of years. Nielsen hopes to see “estheticians who are interested in adding light energy devices to their practices and want to feel stronger in understanding the theory about why it works so they can explain it to their clients.”

Waxing From the Neck Down (11:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m.) by Pati Geraghty

Pati Geraghty will be showing various techniques for speed waxing for the body track to cut down waxing time and increase profits while doing so. Covering everything from proper positioning to overall reduction of waxing time, this presentation will focus on safety, speed and making clients comfortable. Geraghty hopes clients will have “overall confidence in offering the service.”

Natural Ingredients: What’s New? (11:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m.) by Kris Campbell

In the science track, Kris Cambell will be looking at different marketplace trends for natural ingredients in the past year and how these ingredients can be used. An important piece of the puzzle is: “Not all ingredients work for each client. By being aware of new ingredients to help their clients with their skin problems they can help to achieve better results and also client retention,” Campbell explained.
