Manufacturers Trying to be Green on Product Labels

Manufacturers are trying to prove to consumers that their products are eco-friendly, according to a study conducted by the Mintel Global New Products Database. The study reported that environmentally friendly claims have grown nearly 200% over the past five years. In 2002, only five such products were launched, but in 2007 there were nearly 328.

According to the Mintel report, consumers are becoming more eco-conscious and looking for products that meet this need. Manufacturers have responded with everything from recyclable packaging to products that maintain the body’s health to entire brands that support environmental causes. Mintel reveals that almost 200 million Americans buy green products. Price, perceived value and convenience reportedly drive these purchases as more and more people take on a green lifestyle.
