Missouri Estheticians: ACTION NEEDED Tomorrow

From the NCEA and PBA: Missouri HB590 will be heard in committee tomorrow, Thursday, February 28th and Missouri House Members need to hear from you!

HB590 will authorize a person to engage in the practice of specified professions without being licensed if he or she does not hold himself or herself out as being licensed.

As a member of the beauty industry, it is imperative that our profession continued to be licensed for the continued protection of the health and safety of consumers throughout the state of Missouri! Properly trained licensed professionals learn how to utilize chemicals and tools safely to avoid injuries and the spread of infectious diseases.

TALKING POINTS for Licensed Professionals:

1) State legislatures established licensing of the cosmetology industry to create professional accountability in the field and to protect the health and safety of the consumer.

2) Trained in the areas of skin and scalp care, anatomy, biology, chemistry, and science-based infection control, licensed professionals care about the health and safety of their clients.

Share information with your clients and your state legislators! Visit www.probeauty.org/yoursafetyfirst to review questions and answers that explain why the cosmetology industry should remain licensed and regulated.
