With the busy holiday season here, being present and motivated can be challenging. Here are #10things you can do to stay present and motivated in your craft and life, compiled with the help of intuit and astrologer Rob Ryan.

1. Have a spiritual practice.

This is different for everyone, and examples include mediation, religious experience or hiking in the woods. The idea is to experience bliss without having thoughts.

2. Honor your guests.

Our touch is our most powerful asset. Our thoughts come through our touch and create energy within the treatment. Tune into the touch you are creating with love, and your clients will feel an overwhelming sense of love and trust.

3. Avoid conflicts.

Clients will not relax if they are discussing problems at work or something they saw on the news. We want the experience to yield a feeling of calm.

4. Avoid judgments and opinions.

No one cares what you like or don’t like. This practice of avoiding judgment removes gossip.

5. Remember this moment.

As a skin therapist, you might be the most intimate connection a client has all month. Honor and protect this relationship by being present.

6. Talk about things that matter.

Health and wellness of the skin, the practice of forgiveness, love and gratitude are all subjects that build us as humans and create a safe space.

7. Reset between guests.

When you go to sanitize your hands between clients, cleanse your thoughts. Take a few deep breaths and refresh yourself and your energy.

8. Read inspiration out loud.

Reading positive thoughts, quotes and stories out loud have more power because it is action. Imagine how stressful it is to hear someone yelling or crying. We can create the opposite by voicing our positive thoughts and energy. Encourage your team and clients to do the same.

9. Have boundaries.

Watching the news, or having tough conversations before and during your day at the spa may throw off your energy. If you have to call the bank or fight a parking ticket, don’t do it between clients. You’ll take the frustration into the next treatment.

10. Review your day.

Before you leave the spa or your office, list your accomplishments. If you are your own boss, you need to be your own cheerleader. Share a victory, write it down or say it out loud. Start the review with, “I’m proud of myself today because xx.”
