Miraval Group has acquired the 220-acre Travaasa Austin Resort in the Hill Country of Texas. The group will redevelop and expand into a 120-room destination wellness resort—a first for Texas and the South.

Out With the Old, In With the New

Extensive renovations will start soon with a projected completion date of January 2019. Some of the proposed renovations include adding an additional 50 rooms, increasing the space of the spa and expanding their main restaurant.

The rebranded resort will be similar to other Miraval locations, like their flagship Monarch Beach location.

Expanding Their Wellness Brand

This is all part of Miraval’s strategy to expand their brand and reach into new markets. Earlier this year, they opened their Dana Point, California location, and they recently announced renovations to their Lenox, Massachusetts location.

When asked about this recent acquisition, Steven A. Rudnitsky, president and CEO, said the goal of the resort is "to create original experiences with dynamic well-being and personal development programs, one-of-a-kind spa treatments and flavourful and healthful cuisine."

The resort will continue to operate as Travaasa Austin throughout the redevelopment. It will relaunch as Miraval Austin in early 2019.
