The Melanoma Foundation of New England is raising money for their Boston Marathon team, Running for Cover, in an effort to educate people on melanoma and ways to prevent the skin cancer.

On & Off the Track

To prepare for the marathon, the team follows a diet plan, cross-trains and competes in training runs. For motivation, members of Running for Cover use their fundraising commitment to keep going and training

In addition to the run, team members will reach out to friends and family to spread awareness about early detection of melanoma during the marathon season.

“Each runner’s connection to melanoma is unique: Some runners are melanoma survivors; some have a family member of friend who is undergoing treatment for the disease.” —Amy Mason
