The Dermatology Foundation presented Mark J. Holzberg, M.D., with the 2016 Practitioner of the Year award at their annual membership meeting in Orlando, Florida. The award was given as recognition for Holzberg’s service as a private practitioner and contributions through leadership and education.

Holzberg completed medical school and residency in Atlanta, Georgia, at Emory University School of Medicine 30 years ago. His clinical practice in the Atlanta metropolitan area remains the focus of his career because of the value he places on the relationships he builds with his patients.

Holzberg also continues to voluntarily teach medical students and residents at Emory and runs a nail clinic in Grady Hospital, which led him to become and internationally recognized expert in nail disease.

“Dermatology gives me the opportunity to have these special relationships,” said Holzberg. “I don’t think I will ever retire from dermatology!”

The Dermatology Foundation was established in 1964 and is the leading private funding source for skin disease research.
