Marinello schools of Beauty announced that it has shut down its campuses due to actions by the Department of Education. Effective February 4, 2016, its California, Nevada and Utah schools were closed, and its campuses in Connecticut and Kansas followed on February 5, 2016.

Rashed Elyas, chairman and CEO of Marinello Schools of Beauty, posted a closing student letter addressed to students notifying them of the closure. He stated, "We want you to know that we did everything in our power to avoid this unfortunate conclusion and keep your school open. Unfortunately, the Department of Education’s unprecedented and unfounded actions left us with no other option except to close our schools."

In addition to an esthetics program, the school also offered a master esthetics program and an advanced facial and body treatments program. It also offered programs in cosmetology, nails, barbaring, hair design, massage and teaching.

The schools are trying to assist those students displaced by the closure. Marinello will be hosting meetings on campus to pass out any remaining paperwork like official transcripts and proof of training. Representatives of the state in California, Nevada and Connecticut will be at the meeting to explain the students' right and go through their options. Meanwhile, Marinello is in the process of arranging partnerships with other schools to enable students to complete coursework.

Elyas encouraged students to check back with www.marinello.com for further information. He noted, "Despite this disruption, we encourage you to continue to pursue the goals you set for yourself when you enrolled at Marinello. We are proud of your achievements and know that you have a brighter future ahead because of the skills you developed with us. We wish you the very best of luck."
