ISPA Adds Four to 2017 Board of Directors and Officers

As 2016 comes to a close, the International SPA Association has annouced its 2017 board of directors and officers, which will include four new members.The new members include the following.

  • Scott Duncan, president and partner for Spa Gregorie’s
  • Patrick Huey, corporate spa director for Sandals Resorts International,
  • Joshua Luckow, executive director of health and healing for Canyon Ranch Health Resorts
  • Robert Vance, managing director for Well & Being at The Fairmont Princess

Todd Shaw was elected to lead the board of directors while Todd Hewitt was chosen to be his vice chairman. Shaw is the spa director at the Peaks Resort & Spa, and Hewitt is a corporate spa director for health clubs and recreation at the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. The board's treasurer will be Garrett Mersberger, director of Kohler Waters Spa & Development.

Two members that were re-elected to the board of directors include Noel Asmar and Blake Feeney. Frank Pitsikalis, founder and chief executive officer of ResortSuite, and Sharilyn Abbajay, founder of Abbajay & Associates LLC, will serve in their role on the ISPA Foundation board of directors as chairman and vice chairman, respectively.

These individuals will join the current directors who are in the middle of an active board term including: Michael Harmsworth, CEO of ESPA International (US) Ltd.; Kristine Huffman, president of Huffman Hospitality Concepts; Julie Oliff, director of operations of residences at St. Regis Aspen Resort; Laura Parsons, director of operations for the Americas at ESPA International (US) Ltd. (Spa Division); Eric Stephenson, director of massage education at Well World Group; Dawn Tardif, president of BodiScience Wellness Center & Spa; and Lynne McNees, president of ISPA. Dr. Brent Bauer, director of complementary and integrative medicine program for Mayo Clinic, will continue to serve as ISPA’s medical advisor. Ella Stimpson and Todd Walter complete their terms on the ISPA board of directors after they have both served in various volunteer roles within the board and other ISPA committees.

The candidates were chosen through an extensive nomination and interview process in order to pull out the correct members for the boards. Applications for the 2018 ISPA board of directors will be open to the public in the spring. A call for candidates will be announced to all ISPA members who are active participants within the company.
