Also, professional skin care is one of the fastest-growing segments within the cosmetics and toiletries industry, with the global market estimated at nearly $6 billion, which has grown at double-digit rates, compared with a small 4% growth for the global cosmetics and toiletries market overall.

The United States and Europe represent the largest markets in the industry, and they are flourishing, driven by baby boomers' demand for high-priced products, greater segmentation of product lines and a consumer fascination with products that mimic medical spa results.
