Get involved in the development of two up-and-coming estheticians through Skin Inc. magazine’s new interactive blog, The Making of an Esthetician. This real-life blog follows the career paths of two very different corporate-culture women, Colleen and Sandra, as they journey into the world of esthetics. Track their progress as they learn about the techniques, business skills, trends and other lessons that it takes to thrive in today’s esthetic world.
Through the blog, you can join the conversation to give your thoughts, advice and encouragement, and relate your own stories to the issues Colleen and Sandra are seeing as they progress in their education.
Colleen is a fun-loving 20-something who is setting aside her English degree to pursue a career in esthetics. As a 2007 graduate from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois, Colleen majored in English, which she chose because she was good at it. She'd always considered having a career in beauty, but had to overcome expectations and fears to take that first step and enroll in esthetic school.
Sandra is a 40-something who decided that nurturing the soul is more important than spinning numbers. She is a part-time esthetic student who has been in school for six months and she has also worked full-time as an assistant controller for eight years. She is engaged to be married and is switching careers mid-life.
By taking part in this interactive blog, you can read through entries on an array of spa topics, peruse comments from other industry professionals, and leave feedback of your own. It’s a great way to become more connected with various facets of the spa industry, and the ongoing interactivity makes it worth checking out on a regular basis.
