With beautiful weather and perfect temperatures, San Francisco was the perfect place to open the greener, more education-packed Face & Body 2008.

Booths are being constructed and the atmosphere is ripe with anticipation for the most relevant and exciting event in the industry. Amidst the beeping of equipment and the calls of workers to make everything perfect, the expo prepares to open tomorrow--Sunday, August 17. Nearly 450 booths representing the leading companies in the industry will be offering products and expert knowledge to attendees starting tomorrow and running through Monday, August 18.

Pre-conference workshops

New at Face & Body this year are the pre-conference workshops providing in-depth information on a variety of topics from the most respect educators in the business.

At "The Anatomy of a Skin Care Product," Peter T. Pugliese, MD, led a discussion about the complex world of product development. Getting hands on experience working with laboratory equipment and raw materials, attendees learned to make high-quality skin formulations and they received a certificate of completion for this cosmetic chemistry workshop, as well as the definitive knowledge of Dr. Pugliese.

At Noreen Young's "Be the It Makeup Artist" class, participants learned how to offer the perfect cosmetic applications for a variety of clients, as well as retailing makeup products to the satisfaction of both client and the bottom line. Makeup offerings complete the overall spa experience and Young is a vibrant voice in this expanding menu offering.

Attendees discovered how to provide holistic healing care at the "Rainbow Reiki Treatment" class with Linda Bertaut. Experiencing firsthand treatments and discovering the healing nature of Reiki, attendees learned how offering this service in their own spas can give back to their clients and their business.

Rebecca James Gadberry discussed how inflammation isn't just the enemy in anti-aging; it can also be a key to wound-healing in her class "Insights into Inflammation and Wound-healing." Extensive knowledge about helping the skin recover from peels, lasers, light treatments, dermal planing and other procedures was provided to attendees who were eager to learn from Gadberry, an expert in the field.

Co-located events

Helping heighten further business success for spa owners, Face & Body 2008 partnered with Bryan Durocher's "Your Profitable Business Right Now II".Attendees learned about team productivity strategies, low-cost marketing and community PR plans to help business thrive even in a slow economy.

Susanne Warfield led participants through a prep class for the National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors and Associations' (NCEA) national certification.
