Face & Body Midwest was held March 9–11, 2013, at McCormick Place West in Chicago. The event continues to get bigger and better each year, with attendee registration enjoying an approximately 6% increase from 2012. Co-located with America’s Beauty Show (ABS), which had more than 60,000 salon professionals registered, providing an additional 6,700 Face & Body attendees due to cross-over privileges, making the total number of Face & Body attendees approximately 10,100! Joy McKraus, esthetician for Bella Via Skin and Body Therapies, Toledo, Ohio, says, “I had a great experience at the Face & Body show. I came away with lots of knowledge and a lot of excitement to put it to good use in my skin care practice!”
The exhibit hall held more than 150 booths—a 13% increase from last year. Exhibitors represented body, facial and cosmetic products; accessories; equipment; business tools; nutrition and wellness; and various other categories during the expo. Terry Herman, publisher, editor and freelance writer from Chicago, says: “Once on the floor of the expo, the crowds of attendees were energized and excited. [I’m] glad to see the expo gets larger and larger each year.”
Skin Inc. magazine sponsored the Advanced Education Conference Program, which was set in motion with the Networking Continental Breakfast. Jill Reinke, managing esthetician at Dermatology & Skin Care Associates in Mason, Ohio, says, “This was my first time at the breakfast—I really felt like this kick-started the weekend and was something I enjoyed and will not miss in the future.” Immediately following the breakfast was “Celebrating the Past and the Future of Professional Skin Care,” a panel of industry legends, including Rebecca James Gadberry, Christine Heathman, Mark Lees and Peter T. Pugliese, MD, and moderated by Cathy Christensen, editor of Skin Inc. magazine. “The legends panel was a great way to kick off the show,” comments Herman.
