For the past several years, the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, has been home to Face & Body Northern California. Traditionally held in late August, Face & Body will be held in the fall this year instead, on October 6–8, 2012, for a very good reason.

Newly expanded and renovated

This year, the convention center is currently undergoing a massive $120 million expansion and renovation. According to Team San Jose, the center aims for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certification—a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. This effort from the McEnery Convention Center furthers the city of San Jose’s Green Vision and the green focus of the convention center, which offers organic, sustainable food, compostable servingware, recycling programs and other ways to stay green while supporting events.

The convention center’s new contemporary feel showcases a revamped lobby and event spaces to welcome Face & Body attendees, featuring stunning bright California colors an d styles, including reclaimed redwood ceilings and accents, and networking areas with additional electrical outlets for functionality. Soft colors woven into new open, flowing spaces offer clean lines, natural light and a modern high-tech feel to create a renewed sense of place for Face & Body attendees.

The new and improved convention center provides many benefits that you will enjoy as attendees, including a conducive learning environment and many networking nooks to share ideas with industry colleagues.

New connections

The city of San Jose recently upgraded its free Wi-Fi downtown so visitors and residents—including those attending an event at the convention center—can enjoy America’s fastest free Wi-Fi network. Using state-of-the-art technology developed in Silicon Valley, the service extends the range of wireless signals and increases the reliability of Wi-Fi connections.

Additionally, new rebrands include the Hyatt Place (formerly the Crowne Plaza) and The Sainte Claire, a Westin Hotel (formerly the Larkspur) have been included in the Face & Body hotel room block.

Gain insight

In addition to the renovation, Face & Body is a great place to gain insight into the spa industry. Each year, Face & Body offers education, product demonstrations and networking, as well as face-to-face interaction that you are unable to get anywhere else. Attend supplier sessions, and learn about industry trends and techniques.
